Hi everyone, I was Dan_in_WA on the old Tempo Topaz forum years ago. That board folded, for whatever reason. Anybody know what happened?
That ancient Tempo is still in the family, and is presently my daily driver... long story.
Had to rebuild the ATX transaxle, and it went through a time of dying at stop signs and lights.
The dying problem was the result of “false air”, the EGR valve was leaking badly. The valve sealed just fine between the intake and exhaust, but when sucking air from the intake manifold side it leaked through the linkage access between the EGR valve and the position sensor on top of it.
And the base ignition timing has to be set at 15 degrees, NOT 10 degrees, when you have the ATX. Found that in a Ford Service Manual.
